Currently working as a head sommelier for a top fine dining restaurant, my wine journey started seven years ago.

The turning point was working as wine steward at a prestigious wine bar on Bree Street Cape Town. With no qualifications, just zealous and always ready to learn.

I worked with colleagues and managers who had WSET Level 3 and level 4; they inspired me to do wine courses.

So far I have been able to achieve WSET 3, CMS and SASA.

The WSET has a structured program that really makes it easier to understand what is being taught.

I watched a lot of videos by Jimmy smith and a lot of self study and practice. The book is quite comprehensive as well.

Mags Janjo who is a WSET diploma graduate helped me to structure the way I answered the written part of the exam.

I remember sending him a DM on INSTA, he replied quickly with his email address and the rest is history.

Essentially I used a lot of self study apps and YouTube learning, as well as seeking advise from people who have taking the exams I am about to take.
