Chris has always had a passion for food and wine and started working in professional kitchens while at college before studying Hospitality Management at Bournemouth University. From there, he spent over a decade working in Restaurants, Bars and Luxury Hotels and was fortunate enough to be a part of launching Chewton Glen’s iconic treehouse suites as well as running the beautiful bar at The Pig Hotel.
Throughout his time working in the hospitality industry, my passion for the wine industry grew and I dedicated my time to developing wine lists, training staff and organising wine tastings. Inspired by the stories of the winemakers Chris decided to move to New Zealand in 2018 to pursue a career in winemaking. Since being in New Zealand, he has run the Cellar at Villa Maria and, more recently, moved into the winemaking team at Indevin and Villa Maria.
When not making wine, Chris’ time is spent working towards a postgraduate diploma in wine science, watching/playing rugby and, of course, enjoying a glass of wine or two.
